Pushbutton Switch Is Asserted to Save Assembly Time and Money

Mon, 08/08/2011 - 11:58am
pushbutton switchC&K Components has developed an ultra-miniature pushbutton switch that is presented to save assembly time and money. Designated the FP Series, the totally sealed construction uses an o-ring between the actuator and bushing, which prevents contamination. This sealing feature allows for automated soldering and cleaning. The RoHS-compliant switches are available in both vertical and right angle mount configurations, and offer an extended operating life to 50,000 cycles. The miniature FP Series switches measure 5.6 mm x 7 mm, with a board height of 5 mm for the right angle version and 4.5 mm x 7 mm, with a board height of 5.6 mm for the vertical version. With its miniature size and versatility via the vertical and right angle mount configurations, the switches are suitable for use in telecom and datacom applications.

The FP Series switches feature gold over nickel-plated contacts and are available with or without a white, black or red cap.

The FP Series switches feature a contact resistance of 10 mA at 2 VDC, with an initial contact resistance of 80 mOhm maximum. Dielectric withstanding voltage is 500 VDC between terminals/1 minute, while insulation resistance is 500 MOhm minimum at 500VDC. Typical bounce time is <=10 ms. Maximum operating force is 6.9 N and mechanical travel is 1.0 mm. Operating temperature ranges from -20ºC to +80ºC. The FP Series switches are available in tray and bulk bag packaging.
