Cocoon Innovations is excited to announce its GRID-IT! organization system was recently used in an experiment conducted as part of Reduced Gravity Education Flight Program aboard NASA’s “Weightless Wonder” aircraft. A team of fives educators from Warren Technical High School in Lakewood Colorado were selected to build and fly a reduced gravity experiment.

Cocoon GRID-IT!The Warren Tech team used the GRID-IT! to store raw eggs as the team experimented with different ways to crack and contain the contents of raw eggs in a way that would allow someone to cook a sunny-side-up egg in reduced gravity. The GRID-IT!’s rubberized, woven elastic bands proved to be the perfect way to gently secure the fragile and odd shaped eggs in a reduced gravity environment.

The team performed the experiments in late July aboard a microgravity aircraft, which produces weightlessness 18 to 25 seconds at a time by executing a series of about 30 parabolas – a steep climb followed by a free fall – over the Gulf of Mexico. During the free falls, the team was able to gather data in the unique environment and experience near-weightlessness. The Warren Tech team was selected from more than 40 proposals based on scientific merit and educational outreach potential.

The GRID-IT! Starts at $9.99 and is available in a variety of shapes and sizes at CocoonBags.com, The Container Store and other fine retailers.
