Optical Bonding Process for LCD Enhancement Performs In Extreme Environments

optical bonding processDontech, Inc. has developed IMO-bond, a proprietary process of applying rigid optical filters (e.g., contrast enhancing, EMI/RFI shielding, or Therma Klear transparent heaters) to electronic displays via a refractive index matched optical (IMO) bonding process. IMO-bond includes a family of durable, index-matched adhesives that optically couple a cover glass or touch screens to the display to eliminate reflection losses. Employing IMO-bond optical coupling of a contrast enhancing cover glass to the front polarizer of the display virtually eliminates reflections from the rear surface of the optical filter and the front surface of the display system. Features include enhanced sunlight readability of > 90 percent; improved display thermal management in high and low temperature environments; greater versatility allowing for over-frame, under-frame, in-frame and rear-surface bonding applications; better impact resistance as well as increased shock and vibration performance; front surface fluid ingress protection; and improved display optics used with EMI/RFI shielding filters, touch screens and vandal shields. Dontech’s IMO-bond process is suitable for enhancing electronic displays that are commonly used in outdoor and high ambient light applications such as GPS and instrumentation systems used in marine, avionic, military, medical, and industrial environments.
