Philips Lumileds’ LUXEON S LEDs are designed with retail spot and downlighting in mind. According to the company, there are no color bin selections to be made. With a correlated color temperature of 3000K and a CRI >80, all LUXEON S emitters are targeted to the black body curve and populate an area within a 3-step MacAdam Ellipse. The result is desirable uniformity and consistency within the light beam and between emitters. The 1300 “hot” lumens the LED provide comefrom a very small optical source that enables a 10-degree beam from a compact reflector <50 mm in diameter. In a retail spot or down light, the result is tight, sharp beams that provide high Punch – high center beam intensity with beam uniformity and a crisp single shadow – that highlights and gives depth to objects that are being illuminated.
