Rotary Inductive Sensor Provides 360-deg Angular Measurement for Outdoor Apps

TURCK introduced rotary inductive sensors, a new line of inductive analog sensors that provide 360-degree angular measurement. The rotary inductive sensors use resistance inductive capacitance (RLC) measuring technology, rather than a traditional magnetic positioning element — providing complete immunity to EMC interference, according to the company. TURCK rotary inductive sensors are IP67 rated, with a temperature range of -40°C to 70°C, making the devices appropriate for measuring the angle of solar panels, wind turbine blade position, crane position, and other outdoor applications. The sensor and its positioning element are designed as separate pieces, allowing the positioning element to be mounted in a variety of unique ways — including directly onto a rotating shaft — without experiencing the wear common to these types of sensors.
