ST-Ericsson Solutions Boost Mobile Handset Battery Life

Switzerland, 27th January - ST-Ericsson has launched a new product family that can significantly improve the battery life of mobile handsets and other connected devices. The innovative power management components can extend the talk time or Internet connection time by up to 30% compared with solutions that supply power directly from the battery.

The pioneering PM3533 all-in-one solution enables a device’s dual-mode RF subsystem* to operate with low cut-off voltage battery technology, thereby using all the energy available in the battery. The PM3110 is 20% smaller than other DC/DC regulators for RF power amplifiers on the market. “Matching energy supply and demand in real-time is the key to ensuring that power-hungry mobile devices can frequently connect to the Internet, access multimedia services and make voice calls without exhausting their batteries,” said Patrick Dureault, Vice President, Head of Analog and Mixed Signal for ST-Ericsson. “Our two new solutions push forward the frontiers of power management technology and underline ST-Ericsson’s leadership in this important field.”
