Fairchild’s half-bridge Ultra FRFET family provides desirable reverse recovery time (trr) of 35 ns to 65 ns and a small reverse recovery current (1.8 A to 3.1 A). In LCD TV designs, this family is said to eliminate the need for two blocking diodes and two FRDs in the half-bridge circuit, saving board space and as much as $.20 per design. When compared to alternate solutions offering a typical gate charge of 16 nC, the company asserts the Ultra FRFET products are instrumental in reducing the turn-on and turn-off losses of the MOSFET through their low gate charge (Qg(typ) = 11 nC). Ultra FRFET products also feature a dv/dt immunity of 20 V/ns, ensuring reliability and desirabl EMI performance to protect the LCD TVs from interference.
