Audio-Chip Presented As Providing Clearer-than-Crystal Sound

Wed, 12/23/2009 - 7:56am

sound terminal audio ICSTMicroelectronics’ next-generation STA370BWS SoundTerminalT chip uses the company’s Full Flexible Amplifier (FFXT) technology to purportedly deliver high-quality stereo audio at 10W and above. The audio device also uses proprietary BCD8 process technology, which integrates more sophisticated audio signal processing within the CMOS section, enabling a better listening experience for end users, according to the company. The device performs a short-circuit check at power on, which increases application safety and prevents pc-board damage, leading to minimum rework costs for equipment manufacturers. According to the company, the device's on-chip power amplifier also delivers better performance over conventional digital amplifiers, using ST's FFX technology, which provides improved audio at the amplifier output.
