IGBT and MOSFET Drivers Feature 32-V Maximum Supply Voltage
Vishay Intertechnology added to two IGBT and MOSFET drivers its optocoupler portfolio. The 2.5-A VO3120 and 0.5-A VO3150A combine a wide operating voltage with high ambient operating temperature ranges and low power consumption to enable desirable thermal management and flexible design choices for motor drives, induction stove tops, power supplies, and many other high-voltage applications. The new VO3120 and VO3150A each consist of an LED optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage that has an operating voltage range of 15 V to 32 V. The VO3120 and the VO3150A feature an output current up to 2.5 A and 0.5 A, respectively. The voltage and current supplied by the new drivers make them appropriate for directly driving IGBTs with ratings up to 800 V and 50 A for the VO3120 and 20 A for the VO3150A. Their operating voltage range allows them to drive larger modules that typically require a two-sided power supply. Low power consumption of 2.5 mA also helps in minimizing power and heat dissipation.
