External LNA Improves Sensitivity in GPS Receivers
Deployable near the antenna to reduce trace losses, NEC’s UPC8240T6N external LNA can use distributed filtering to improve noise performance in GPS receiver ICs. Based on a proprietary SiGe:C bipolar process, the device has a typical gain of 28-dB and a noise of 1.0 dB. The LNA has a typical consumption of 6.5 mA and can run on supply voltages as low as 1.6 V. Features include a built-in power-save function, a bandgap regulator, an output matching network, and ESD protection.
