Motion Controller/Driver Uses 64-bit Processor
Driving and controlling up to 3 axes of motion using any combination of DC or 2-phase stepper motors up to 3 A per axis, Newport’s ESP301 3-axis motion controller and driver utilizes a 64-bit, floating point, DSP processor. The instrument includes a USB interface, a manual front panel interface, a digital PID-FF (feed-forward) servo loop, a 1,000x programmable micro-step resolution, and an 18-bit DC motor command output. Positioning modes consist of synchronized and non-synchronized point-to-point, jogging, linear or circular interpolation, and continuous path contouring. Any axis can be “slaved” to another axis, even if they have different motor/gear ratios or screw pitches. The product also has on-the-fly position, velocity, or trajectory changes; software limit; an origin search routine with encoder index pulse consideration; and backlash and linear error compensation.
