Microcontrollers Enable Industrial Connectivity
Shipping with the Freescale MQX RTOS, Freescale Semiconductor’s MCF5225x family of 32-bit ColdFire V2 microcontrollers offer on-chip USB device/host/on-the-go, Fast Ethernet, CAN, and encryption for connectivity in industrial networking applications. The units include a SPI, 2 I²C buses, 3 UARTs, an on-chip cryptographic accelerator unit, a random number generator, an enhanced multiply-accumulate controller (EMAC) with hardware divide capability, and a direct-memory access (DMA) controller. The encryption module supports DES, 3DES, AES, MD5 and SHA-1 algorithms. The components exhibit up to 76 Dhrystone 2.1 MIPS at 80 MHz, up to 512-KB Flash, up to 64-KB SRAM, and a 3-V-to-3.6-V supply voltage. The devices have an external Mini-Flexbus interface, a 2-channel periodic interrupt timer, 4-channel 32-bit DMA timers, 4-channel 16-bit capture/compare/PWM timers, a real-time clock with 32-kHz crystal, and a 12-bit ADC. The devices also suit building/lighting control and medical applications. From $4.93 in 10,000 quantities.
