Filters Cut Cellular Noise in Music Phones
Occupying 0.89 mm × 1.26 mm of handset PC-board space, STMicroelectronics’ EMIF02-SPK02F2 audo EMI filters target the built-in speaker or stereo headset output found in music phones. A single component can be connected to the microphone input to isolate the handset from external sources of noise, such as other cell phones. The devices use a double-clamping structure to clamp an ESD spike to 12 V for meeting product-level ESD standards, such as IEC EN 61000-4-2. The units also perform in notebook and desktop PCs, car audio systems, and personal mp3 players. Pricing is $0.16 each in >10,000 quantities.
