Dimmable SSL Driver Handles up to 40 White LEDs
Accepting an input from 3.1 V to 30 V, the LT3599 DC/DC boost-mode converter from Linear Technology is designed to operate as a constant current solid-state lighting driver (SSLD) for up to 40 white LEDs. From a 12-V input, the device can drive up to four strings of LEDs, each with up to ten 120-mA white LEDs in series at efficiencies as high as 90%. Provided in a thermally-enhanced 5mm2 QFN or TSSOP-28E package, the SSLD includes features such as a color PWM dimming ratio up to 3000:1, LED current derating based on junction temperature and/or LED temperature, and programmable overvoltage protection when all LED strings are disconnected. From less than $4 each in quantity.
