Digital Pulsers Enable Unipolar or Bipolar Operation
Providing a min. output current of 1.3 A, Maxim Integrated Products’ MAX4810, MAX4811, and MAX4812 dual digital pulsers can be independently configured to enable unipolar or bipolar pulsing in high-voltage systems from low-voltage logic outputs. The 7-mm × 7-mm 56-pin TQFN-packaged units have 3 logic inputs per channel and 2 independent enable inputs to ensure that the output MOSFETs are turned off. The components employ an active-clamping architecture in portable ultrasound imaging and industrial flaw detection applications. The pulsers operate from a single positive supply up to 220 V, a single negative supply down to -200 V, or dual ±110-V supplies over a temperature range from 0°C to 70°C. The MAX4810 exhibits clamp-output overvoltage protection, the MAX4811 has pulser- and clamp-output overvoltage protection, and the MAX4812 offers pulsing without overvoltage protection.
