Coming in an optimized TO38 package, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors’ new blue laser diode serves micro-projectors integrated in mobile devices, such as cell phones and digital cameras. The 3.2-mm high component demonstrates a wavelength of 450 nm, output of 50 mW, voltage of 5.5 V, and efficiency of 0.9 W/A. The ridge laser will serve as a light source for producing and downloading images and video clips.
