Measuring in communications, nuclear research and weapon physics applications, Agilent Technologies’ U1050A-002 Acqiris time-to-digital converter demonstrates timing resolution of 5 ps in a measurement range of up to 20 seconds. The CompactPCI module offers 13 identical hardware channels, 12 independent stop inputs and a common start, with an internal buffer allowing the recording of up to 128 stops, and inputs with programmable thresholds and slopes. The instrument can be based on a <3-ps rms, ±2-ppm clock source or an external 10-MHz reference input. Digitized data is fed directly to the onboard FPGA-based data processing unit, which handles the data and subsequent readout with direct memory access (DMA) mode. Pricing starts at $16,000.
