Motor Controller Powers Brushless DC Fans and Motors
Integrating a Hall sensor and amplifier, digital control circuitry, and a full-bridge output driver, Diodes Incorporated’s AH5792 smart motor controller drives low-power, single-coil brushless DC fans and motors. The SOT553-packaged component presents an operating voltage range from 1.8 V to 5 V, a 400-mA peak current-rated bi-directional H-bridge output stage, a pair of push-pull output drivers to source and sink current, and an operating temperature range from -40ºC to 100ºC. The RoHS-compliant device protects motor windings from damage with integrated, locked rotor detection, and automatic self-restart functions that shut down the output driver in the event of a locked rotor and then restarts the motor when the rotor is freed.
