Microcontrollers Support USB
Adding to the JM family, Freescale Semiconductor’s MC9S08JM16 8-bit microcontrollers integrates on-chip USB 2.0 full-speed device support. The components offer a 48-MHz S08 core, a bus frequency of 24 MHz, up to 16-KB Flash memory, 1-KB SRAM, 256-B USB RAM, and an operating voltage range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V. The devices include 2x SCI, I²C, 2x SPI, a 7-channel keyboard interface (KBI), a 2-channel 16-bit timer, a 4-channel 16-bit timer, a 12-bit 8-channel ADC, and a real-time clock. The MCUs use Freescale’s USB-LITE stack, and have system protection offerings, such as low-voltage detection and a computer operating properly (COP) module. The products suit PC peripherals, industrial printers, barcode scanners, utility meters, gamepads, and touch panels. Packaging options consist of 48-pin QFN, 44-pin LQFP, and 32-pin LQFP. Suggested resale pricing starts at $1.73 in 10,000 quantities.
