Targeting universal input applications rated at up to 8 W, CamSemi’s C2140 Series primary side sensing (PSS) flyback controllers demonstrates current and voltage regulation of ±5%. The SOT23-6-packaged components uses algorithms combined with digital techniques to monitor the output voltage, provide current regulation, and enable quasi zero voltage switching. The devices include programmable cable compensation of up to 10%, switching frequency adjustment, over-temperature protection, input overvoltage protection, and output short-circuit protection. The ICs are said to eliminate the need for optocouplers and secondary-side feedback circuitry.
