SoC Integrates 2.4 GHz Transceiver Core
Including the Enhanced ShockBurst hardware link layer, Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF24LE1 SoC uses the nRF24L01+ 2.4-GHz transceiver core in wireless applications running on coin cell batteries. The component utilizes an 8051 mixed signal MCU core offering performance via one or two clock cycles, 16 KB of on-chip Flash memory, and 1-KB of SRAM. The unit presents a 32-kHz oscillator for synchronous protocols, a 16-MHz RC oscillator for start-up from idle, a security coprocessor supporting AES encrypted wireless communications, and nA and mA idle modes designed for RF protocol stacks. The system-on-a-chip contains SPI, 2-wire, UART, 12-bit ADC, PWM, and an analog comparator on the application layer.
