PWM Controllers Enable Energy-Efficient Designs
Complying with Intel’s VR11.1 requirements, ON Semiconductor’s ADP4000 and ADP4100 6-phase PWM controllers allow for energy-efficient motherboard and graphics card designs for servers and desktop computers. The LFCSP-48-packaged components conserve power during light-loading, and exhibit VID transitions to adjust the processor voltage and processor frequency to switch between power/performance states. The RoHS-compliant devices offer current limit protection with a delayed latch-off function; power good monitoring, and Fast Enhancement PWM (FEPWM) architecture. The ADP4000 has a PMBus-programmable digital interface that enable output voltage (VID code), output voltage offset for over-clocking, and current limit thresholds with 25 PMBus-defined commands and 38 manufacturer-specific commands.
