Power Monitor IC Employs Digital I²C Interface
Utilizing TruePower technology, International Rectifier’s IR3720 output power monitor IC communicates output current or voltage to the system controller through a digital I²C interface. The 3 mm² 10-pin DFN-packaged product demonstrates current accuracy of 0.20%, voltage accuracy of ±0.75%, bias supply voltage of 3.30 V, and an operating temperature from -10°C to 150°C. The component monitors the output filter inductor current in buck or multiphase converters from 0.50 V to 1.80 V, and offers the option of using resistive sensing or inductor DCR current sensing with internal thermal compensation. The device performs in DC/DC converters in notebook and desktop computers, and energy-efficient server applications. Pricing starts at $1.20 each in 10,000 quantities.
