Image Sensor Delivers Low-Light Performance
Incorporating 1.4-micron OmniBSI pixel technology and a TrueFocus ISP, OmniVision Technologies’ OV5462 5 megapixel SoC CMOS image sensor supplies >500 mV/Lux-sec. and all the functionality of a complete camera on a chip, including extended depth of field (EDoF). The component performs backside illumination, and increases the chief ray angle (CRA). The device employs a combination of advanced de-noise, gamma and color correction algorithms to reduce color noise without removing details, and image sharpening techniques to minimize color aliasing. The sensor offers an internal anti-shake engine for image stabilization; support for thumbnailing and Scalado tagging; Bridging and Daisy Chain support; an integrated JPEG compression engine; and an embedded auto focus controller, which can be programmed via the internal MCU. The unit can output video in full resolution at 15 fps, and supports 720p HD 60 fps and 1,080p HD video at 30 fps.
