Targeting the high-performance computing (HPC), enterprise networking, and network storage markets, W.L. Gore & Associates’ GORE SPF+ copper cable assemblies delivering 10 Gbps data at distances up to 25 meters. The SFF-84310- and RoHS-compliant devices use an expanded PTFE dielectric for smaller cable size for a given conductor or a larger conductor in a specific twinax diameter. The assemblies’ connector is made with a RF material that is said to reduce dielectric loss, provide a higher degree of impedance control through the link, and decrease crosstalk in comparison to other FR-4 designs.
