Newport wiSeriesTransmitting over 1,000 meters outdoors without obstructions, Newport Electronics’ wiSeries wireless sensors deliver Web-based monitoring of temperature, humidity and barometric pressure over an Ethernet network. The devices include a coordinator/receiver that connecting directly into an Ethernet network and the Internet, and serves active Web pages to display and chart the data. The sensors use an IEEE 802.15.4-compliant transmitter operating at 2.4 GHz as the radio, and can set alarms to be notified by e-mail to a single user or a group distribution list, including text messages and cell phones. The components run on 2 alkaline D-Cell batteries or a universal AC adapter operating from 110 VAC to 230 VAC with a lithium backup battery. The electronics are protected in a weatherproof polycarbonate NEMA4- and IP65-rated housing, and perform in industrial applications and harsh outdoor environments.
