Reference Design Enables 12 A Power Modules

Avnet PMRD-0012Utilizing a LM3495 PWM buck regulator, Avnet Electronics Marketing’s and National Semiconductor’s PMRD-0012 power module reference design exhibits output current of up to 12 A. The component offers an input voltage range from 3.3 V to 15 V, an adjustable output voltage range from 0.8 V to 5.5 V, efficiency up to 96% and feedback accuracy of ±1%. The design presents emulated current mode (ECM) control, current sharing and parallel output support, up/down voltage marginalizing, tracking and sequencing, and output enable/inhibit. The product offers pre-bias start-up, soft start/shutdown, output voltage sensing, input under voltage lockout and fault tolerance mechanisms on an industry-standard POL module footprint. Applications include intermediate bus architecture (IBA), distributed power architecture (DPA), digital circuits, multi-voltage systems, servers and telecommunications and industrial equipment.
