Digital Front End Delivers 1,450-W Peak Output
Addressing the demand for low-profile configurable power solutions for broadcast, instrumentation, medical equipment, ATE, and other demanding applications, the NV-Power family of AC/DC digital front-end supplies can deliver a 1,450-W peak output for as much as 10 seconds. Products in the NV-350 series provide up to 350 W of output with an input of up to 180 VAC, and up to 660 W continuous (740 W peak for 10 seconds) with an input greater than180 VAC. Up to six user-selectable outputs can be provided in the 1.60 x 3.75 x 10.80-in. package. The NV-700 series provides up to 700 W with less than 150 VAC in, and up to 1,150 W continuous (1,450 W peak for 10 seconds) with more than 150 VAC in. Up to eight user-selectable outputs can be provided in the 1.6 x 4.92 x 10.8-inch package.
Using an integrated-magnetics transformer for space savings, the device’s digital control enables adjustment of performance parameters such as modified current-limit or start-up characteristics. An 8-bit microcontroller handles housekeeping routines, and the input to output isolation meets the 4kVac reinforced requirements for medical use, while also meeting Curve B EMC performance with an earth leakage current of less than 300µA at 264Vac, 63Hz (meeting the requirement for IEC/EN/UL60601-1). All outputs are fully isolated, no minimum load is required and each module features output-good and inhibit control signals.
