Daughter Cards Plug into Development Boards
Enabling broadcast video applications, National Semiconductor’s SDALTEVK and SDXILEVK daughter cards perform with Altera’s Cyclone III development board via HSMC and Xilinx’s Spartan-3A development board via Avnet’s EXP expansion module, respectively. The components support a 3G-SDI signal path consisting of an adaptive cable equalizer, deserializer with reclocked loop through, and serializer with integrated cable driver in 270 Mbps, 1.485 Gbps and 2.970 Gbps data rates. The daughter card development kits include a multi-rate sync separator, clock generator, FPGA IP and framing for SD, HD and 3-Gbps type-A SDI formats. The devices’ reference clock selector, a 4 × 4 or 2 × 2 LVDS crosspoint switch, enables recovered clock, genlock from analog reference, local clock generation or external clock options. Applications include video routers, production switchers, video servers and video editing and post-production equipment. Pricing is $399 each.
