CCD Sensor Works at 50 Megapixels
Detecting a 1-ft² object in an aerial photo of a field 1.5 miles across, Eastman Kodak's KODAK KAF-50100 image sensor works at 50 megapixels. The device utilizes the company's KODAK TRUESENSE 6 micron full frame CCD technology platform, which provides increased data throughput, a reduced "click to capture" time, lower power consumption for improved battery life and improved color fidelity, while still retaining key performance parameters available from the 6.8 micron pixel used in current products. With an 8176 × 6132 pixel array, the sensor provides resolution in the 48 × 36 mm optical format used in medium format photography.
