Analysis System Measures Roller Profiles

Mon, 09/15/2008 - 12:37pm

Sensor Sigma-NipCalculating and recording nip width at multiple points, Sensor Products’ Sigma-Nip electronic nip analysis system measures roller profiles and alignment condition across the rollers’ face length in real-time. The device consists of a series of thin-film resistive ink pressure transducers on a carrier sheet that is loaded in between the rollers with Windows-based software assimilating the readings into graphical images. The sensor elements that are placed in between two contacting rollers reveals the level of pressure and where the pressure is occurring. The system offers an active sensor area of 9”, sensor thickness of 10 mils, reading increments and resolution of 0.05”, nip width range from 0.05” to 9” and pressure range from 40 psi to 3,000 psi. The product exhibits a cycle speed of 1 fps, accuracy of ±6%, repeatability of ±98% and weight-per-element of 1.5 oz.
