LISTED UNDER:

Vishay TOIM5232Supporting data ranges from 1.20 kb/s to 115.20 kb/s, Vishay Intertechnology’s TOIM5232 encoder/decoder presents proper pulse shaping of RS-232 data signals for serial infrared (SIR) IrDA transceivers. The device shortens RS-232 output signals to IrDA-compatible electrical pulses to drive an infrared transmitter in transmit mode, and stretches the received infrared pulses to the proper bit width in receiving mode. The 4 mm × 4 mm × 0.75 mm QFN-packaged component exhibits a standby mode maximum current consumption of 1 µA over an operating voltage range from 2.70 V to 3.60 V with 5 V tolerant inputs. The encoder/decoder offers a programmable baud clock generator with 13 baud rates from 1,200 Hz to 115 kHz. The product is suitable for wirelessly-enabled data loggers and utility meters, as well as IrDA communication in mobile phones, notebook computers and PDAs. Pricing is $2.25 each in 1,000 quantities.
