Murata Power Solutions introduced a range of isolated 2W single output DC/DC converters. The eight models in the NMG Series are housed in small footprint (19.5 mm x 7.5 mm x 10.0 mm high), industry-standard SIP packages that allow drop-in replacement of other devices. The converters also provide a pin compatible power upgrade path from the company’s 1W NMR Series. They are suited to isolating and/or converting DC power rails. Galvanic isolation allows the devices to be configured to provide an isolated negative rail in systems where only positive rails exist. Devices are available with input voltages of either 5V or 12V, and a choice of 5V, 9V, 12V and 15V output voltages. Typical efficiency ratings are up to 88 percent, and an isolation voltage of 1 kV DC (flash tested for one second) is specified across the range. Suitability for use in high dependability applications is underlined by a MTTF of up to 3.9 million hours. Pricing at 1k pieces is approximately $8.
