Power Supply Delivers High Power Density
Delivering a power density of over 76W per in2, the EN5395QI from Enpirion, is a 9A DC/DC converter that features integrated-inductor technology and a high switching frequency. The technology enables the PwrSoC (power supply on a chip) to attain noise immunity with a small footprint. The part also offers two options for setting the output voltage. The PWM (pulse-width modulation) DC/DC converter integrates the inductor, MOSFETS, and controller into a 10 mm x 12 mm x 1.85 mm package. The part requires five external MLCC capacitors, has a footprint of 250 sq mm, can deliver up to 30W of continuous output power and achieves up to 93 percent efficiency. Output voltage is programmed using a 3-pin voltage-ID (VID) input, allowing designers to choose one of seven pre-programmed output voltages. Two to four devices can be placed in parallel to provide a single load with up to 36A of output current. The device is suitable for different markets including; storage, networking, computing, telecom, audio/video and other distributed power architectures.
