Telecom Inverter Delivers 5000W from 2 RU, 19-inch Rack-mount Package
Power-One announced the introduction of its SLI 50 Inverter. This 2U, 19-inch rack-mount product converts a 48V DC input into a 5,000W, 230V AC output for network power systems, IT, and industrial applications. According to the company, power-conversion efficiencies, up to 93 percent, extend the back-up time available from batteries and can reduce the number of batteries needed to achieve a specified back-up-power, Amp-hour rating. The SLI 50 features a true-sine-wave output that can be paralleled; facilitating the scalability needed to power future network growth. The SLI 50 inverter uses an on-board digital signal processor to enable simplified programming via a front-panel keyboard and LCD display. Remote monitoring and control is facilitated by an RS-485-compatible interface. Additional features include full-load power from -25ºC to 55ºC without derating, operation up to 65ºC ambient, <300 mA input-reflected-ripple current at maximum-load, a cooling system that is said to optimize fan life and minimize noise, and an optional external static transfer switch. Protections include overtemperature, input under and overvoltage, and output overvoltage and overcurrent. The restore mode of each protection can be individually selected to "latch" or "autorestart". SLI 50 pricing is $3,100 each in single-piece quantities.
