Wireless Development System Embraces Multiple Standards

multi-standard development platform for wireless infrastructureEnabling base station OEMs to support multiple wireless standards from a single platform, a development system based on Texas Instrument’s multicore TMS320TCI6487 and TMS320TCI6488 DSPs and multi-interface software libraries covers all major air interfaces including GSM-EDGE (6-carrier, 3-sector), WCDMA/ HSPA/ HSPA+ (1-carrier, 3-sector), TD-SCDMA (6-carrier) , LTE (3-carrier 10MHz) and WiMAX (3-carrier 10 MHz). The scalable and programmable platform can create products like the CommAgility AdvancedMC AMC-6487, designed around three TMS320C6487 DSPs or the pin-compatible TMS320C6488 DSP and an optional WiMAX-required FPGA. The infrastructure baseband processors have on-chip accelerators to eliminate the need for an FPGA or a microprocessor for GSM-EDGE, HSPA, HSPA+, TD-SCDMA and LTE applications with OBSAI- and CPRI-compliant antenna interfaces on-chip to support direct connectivity over the backplane to an RF transceiver card or remote radio head.
