Test System Measures Passive Intermodulation

Fri, 04/04/2008 - 6:37am

ec84tm803aBoonton, a Wireless Telecom Group company, introduced its PIM 20 ultra portable test system for passive intermodulation. Its design provides a rugged, reliable tool for RF field technicians. The device is battery-driven and self-calibrating. When connected to a component or system, users can read the measurement value (dBc) directly from the display, follow the LED bar that turns red if too high of a PIM value is measured, or they can connect it to a device like a Walkie-Talkie to listen remotely if PIM values change when altering components (e.g. tap test). The system generates two RF signals that can be set between 20 dBm and 33 dBm, allowing the measurement of components close to their predetermined power range without overloading them.
