Typical applications include factory automation, fuel dispensing, marine, metal working and instrumentation and material handling. The RoHS compliant magnetic encoder family performs in a temperature ranging from -40°C to +125°C and is capable of operating with either a +5.0V DC supply, or a more energy efficient +3.3V DC supply voltage, with the capability of rotating up to 10,000 RPM while maintaining code accuracy.
The products feature an austriamicrosystems Hall Effect application-specific standard product (ASSP) capable of producing four distinct waveforms including quadrature, direction/step, absolute and pulse-width modulation (PWM) waveforms to provide designers with greater flexibility in programming to suit their specific application requirements. These encoders can be interconnected in a daisy-chain configuration for a serial read-output option, which is beneficial in the case where memory overhead and space for wiring each individual encoder separately is critical. The chip-select option allows the interrogation of each encoder individually by the microprocessor, which takes less time to execute and enhances the speed of the control loop. Prices range from $19 to $26 in 1,000 piece quantities.
