mixed signal controllerCamSemi announced a mixed signal controller to enable the rapid development of simple, low cost, switched mode power supplies (SMPS) for cordless phone and other EMI-sensitive or low power consumer applications. The C2471 device will allow designers to meet the demands of FCC part 68 standard for telecommunication equipment and ENERGY STAR 2.0 for energy efficiency but without needing complex filtering circuitry or specialist design skills. This controller targets high volume, consumer applications rated at 1W to 6W including household telecommunications and audio equipment. The controllers are based on a patented Resonant Discontinuous Forward Converter (RDFC) topology that maintains ‘EMI clean’ resonant switching over the full load variation. This approach generates low levels of EMI. The C2471LX2 comes in a SOT23-6 package for surface mount and the C2471LW1 is packaged in a PDIP-8 for through-hole applications.
