Single-Channel Regulator Chip Claims High Efficiency and Accuracy
Integrating a switching voltage regulator, 1.5A-rated p-channel power MOSFET, and compensation circuitry in a TO-252S-5 package, the BD9870 single-channel step-down switching regulator has an efficiency of 88 percent, an output accuracy of ±1.0 percent, and a bias current of 3 mA with a zero standby current. Deployable using only an external coil, diode, and output capacitor, the 900 kHz device can present a 60 percent board-space savings over previous solutions. Features include an input voltage from 8V to 35V, an adjustable output voltage, and soft-start operation. Overcurrent and thermal shutdown protection is included. From $1.20 each in quantity.
