Linear Regulator Cuts MSP430 System Standby Power In Half

Wed, 03/19/2008 - 11:17am

LISTED UNDER:

TPS780xx LDOConsuming what is presented as the lowest quiescent current in the industry at 500nA, the Texas Instruments' TPS780xx LDO also has a voltage select pin for designers to dynamically shift to a lower voltage level in a MSP430 microcontroller-based battery-powered design when the microprocessor is in sleep mode to cut power by as much as half. Stable with any output capacitor greater than 0.1µF, features of the 150 mA linear regulator include a 6-pin, 2mm² SON package, a dropout of 250mV, a typical accuracy of 3%, and adjustable or fixed-output voltages from 0.8V to 5.0V. Suggested pricing in 1,000-piece quantities is $0.75 each.
