DSCs Integrate 16-bit Audio DAC
Targeting embedded applications requiring audio functionality, 28-pin and 44-pin dsPIC 16-bit DSCs incorporate a dual-channel, 100ksps, 16-bit audio DAC module as well as 16 kB RAM (2 Kbytes of dual-port RAM) with 64 kB and 128 kB flash optional in the dsPIC33 model. Features of the DSP-capable device include two analog comparators, selectable 10-bit or 12-bit ADC, and a real-time clock and calendar. All devices are available with temperature ratings from -40°C to +85°C or to +125°C. Serial peripherals include 2 UARTs, 2 SPIs, I2C and CAN2.0B, and a PMP enables parallel connection to external memory or peripherals with pin-selection capability for layout efficiency. Access to software libraries is also available for added functionality such as speech compression for protocols, such as G.711 (64 kbps), ADPCM G.726A (16kbps to 40 kbps) and SPEEX (8 kbps). Prices range from $3.67 to $4.18 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
