DC/DC Converter for Railways Generates 2 kW Output
The HVI 2K-750/24 high input voltage DC/DC converter from Absopulse uses field proven design topology to generate 2kW output power. It accepts a 750V DC input voltage (525V to 975V DC range), which is the traction voltage typically required for mass transit vehicles such as trams, metros and light rail, as well as mining locomotives. The standard unit delivers 24V DC, with other output voltages available on request. An optional built-in redundancy diode would allow for a number of units to be connected in parallel to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy. This feature also makes the unit suitable for battery charging applications. The HVI 2K-750/24 meets the requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on rolling stock. It is filtered to meet EN 50121-3-2 EMI/EMC. Ruggedizing and conformal coating provide immunity to high levels of shock, vibration, humidity, moisture and airborne contaminants. The HVI 2K-750/24 is fan cooled and rated for -25°C to 45°C for full specification, with wider temperature ranges available. To ensure high reliability and long operating life, all critical components on the primary side are designed and tested for corona inception levels which are significantly higher than the operating voltages. The unit features high efficiency, low output noise and full protection on the input and output.
