Anritsu Device Company Ltd. introduced its AS8Y1100M30M/AS8C1150Z30M 0.8 µm high power superluminescent diodes (SLDs) that feature high precision with low coherent noise, high resolution with wide spectral half width and sharp directivity. The overall performance of the diodes make them well suited for optical sensor/encoder, optical coherent tomography (OCT) and optical measurement applications. They can also serve as a substitute for high-power LEDs, and they can be used in applications requiring high power and a wide spectrum. The diodes are suitable for chromatic dispersion measurements of optical components and optical fibers, design into temperature sensors, strain gauge sensors and pressure sensors such as those used for oil exploration and pipelines, and they can be used in OCT biomedical imaging applications.
