Self-Clinching Fasteners for Thin Metal Assemblies
PEM introduces its R’Angle self-clinching fasteners that create permanent right-angle attachment points in metal sheets as thin as .040"/1 mm. These aluminum self-tapping or steel threaded fasteners can serve as alternatives to bent tabs at edges of sheets, bent tabs in the middle of sheets, bent flanges, right-angle brackets, tack welds and loose hardware. Results include more predictable designs and tighter design control, elimination of tab cutouts (used in EMI/RFI shielding) and welding operations, material and assembly cost savings due to reduced hardware, and more attractive unmarred assemblies. Type RAA aluminum self-tapping fasteners accept thread-forming screws in sizes #4-40, #6-32, #8-32, and M3 and M4. Type RAS steel threaded fasteners are available in thread sizes #4-40, #6-32, #8-32, and M3 and M4.
