Analog-to-Digital Converter For Capturing Input Frequencies
Maxim's MAX109 is an 8-bit, 2.2Gsps analog-to-digital converter with dynamic wideband performance optimized for capturing input frequencies in the second Nyquist zone. The MAX109 uses a high-performance track/hold (T/H) amplifier, a quantizer, and a 1:4 demultiplexer. It achieves a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 62dBc and a signal-to-noise ratio of 45dB, remaining flat (within 1.6dB) for input frequencies up to 2GHz. The MAX109 can also digitize/synthesize signals directly at RF, thus reducing or eliminating the need for RF down-converters. Max109 also supports differential and single-ended inputs with a ±250mV voltage range. Output data is in standard LVDS format which operates at 3.0V to 3.6V. Control inputs allow interleaving of additional MAX109 devices to increase the effective system-sampling rate. The Max109 is offered in a 256-pin SBGA package and is specified over the extended (-40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius) temperature range.
