Fujitsu Components America, Inc. released a very low-profile connector for micro SD/TransFlash cards. Featuring the company’s precise die-and-molding technology, the FCN-560 series micro SD connector measures 15 mm x 14 mm x 1.6 mm and has a life cycle of ten thousand insertions/withdrawals. The connector uses a proprietary push-push structure that provides positive tactile feedback during card insertion and withdrawal. A card drop protection mechanism prevents the card from falling out during pre-insertion and forced card extraction after it’s locked in. When ejected, the card travels 3.5 mm from its locked position. The connector offers a rated voltage of 5V AC/DC and current of 0.5A. Contact resistance is 100 mohm (initial) and the dielectric withstand voltage is 500V AC for one minute. The operating temperature range is -20°C to 70°C. The connector is RoHS-compliant. Available immediately, it is priced at $0.45 per device in 200K to 400K quantities per month.
