ec912tm265-webThe DAWN Mini Logger, from HEM Data, supports leading automotive protocols including CAN (Controller Area Network) to acquire OBD and Enhanced Diagnostic data. It is purportedly the industry’s smallest high speed data logger. The logger fits within the mating OBD (J1962) connector under the dashboard. In addition, it supports the J1939 heavy duty protocol. By acquiring Enhanced Diagnostic data, DAWN can acquire a few hundred parameters from multiple controllers simultaneously. Using a special test mode, data is acquired up to a rate of 250 samples/sec for each parameter. It also overcomes the typical OBD limitation of only acquiring data at 20 samples/sec aggregate. Thus, 5 simultaneous parameters could only be acquired at 4 samples/sec each for a competitive system. Options include a cellular modem and an 8 channel A/D. Storage media is up to 2 GB on a mini SD card. List price is $1,495.00.

Dungeons and Dragons Dice Gauntlet
Dungeons and Dragons Dice Gauntlet

The D&D bracer is a fairly quick, fun, nerdy LilyPad project. The final product is a wearable bracer with a display that will randomly generate numbers between 1 and 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, or 100 in response to arm movement, so it can effectively replace all of the dice in your bag for a D&D session.

Sustainable?
Sustainable?

I'd like some genius to define sustainable. Could we count something that we can keep doing for 100 billion years - beyond the death of the Universe as we currently understand such things - as sustainable? How about a billion years?
