Radicom Research, Inc. introduced a line of USB hardware modems in modular and standalone configurations. The modems process data using their own hardware, and they do not use any processing power of the host computer. USB to RS-232/RS-485 Converter

OTEK Corp. announced its USB converter that allows the interface of any RS-232 or -485 equipment with any USB port without the need for an external power supply. The USB draws its power from the USB port and since the connectors match any existing PC DB9, the USB plugs to the DB9 on the existing equipment, requiring one cable (type A to type B) for the USB end. For RS-485, the USB comes with a screw terminal connector.

Pickering Interfaces introduced its BRIC2 matrices that occupy two slots of a PXI chassis, providing a more compact system for matrix applications not requiring the higher crosspoint count of four- or eight-slot BRICs.
