Zener Diode Assemblies Shield Automotive Peripherals

PolyZen Zener diode micro-assemblyCreated to help protect consumer infortainment devices that require in-vehicle charging, a pair of PolyZen 2.3A polymer-enhanced  Zener diode assemblies from Tyco Electronics include a resistively non-linear, polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) layer that responds to either diode heating or overcurrent events. Features of the 3.85mm × 3.85mm × 1.5mm devices include a max input of 16V DC, a resistance of 0.04Ω, and a power dissipation of 0.7W. The assemblies are $0.45 per piece in quantities of 100k units with an availability of 6 to 8 weeks.
